The work was worth it. The kitchen specialists have combined rustic country house charm with modern functionality and aesthetics to create a stylish dream kitchen. We were able to visit the Dahmann family and find out more about this exciting project. Anyone who decides to buy an old farmhouse not only faces challenges such as sloping walls, low room heights or uneven floors. The unique charm that comes with the house should not be lost despite modernization measures. In addition to the stylish ceiling beams, the doors with carved decorations and the rustic floors, the layout of the rooms is characteristic. The most important room here used to be called the “Stube”, which was not only the only room in the house that was heated, but also the central meeting place and lounge for the whole family. This meaning of the “parlor” should not be lost in the newly renovated home . This not only means a place to cook, linger, eating and spending time together, but also for working from home. In the Dahmanns ‘ kitchen , the most diverse areas of life come together, which have been implemented using clever solutions from the experts at Wieser Küchen.

Interview with the Dahmann family and kitchen specialist Ulrike Eiben

Hello Mr. Dahmann, The kitchen is very successful and in combination with the rustic room is truly unique. Is this how you imagined the result? Mr. Dahmann: The fact that the end result here is a modern kitchen, that fits so perfectly into the rustic ambience and blends in perfectly with the living room, I wished for, but I couldn ‘t imagine it looking so beautiful. What wishes and requirements did you bring to the kitchen specialists? Mr. Dahmann: It was important to us to retain the charm of the farmhouse and consciously preserve existing elements, instead of replacing them with new solutions. One example of this is the protruding fireplace as the centerpiece of the kitchen, the old tiled floor or the beams on the ceiling. For the kitchen itself, we wanted a modern solution in terms of both a modern solution in terms of both functionality and appearance, perfectly match the surrounding living space and deliberately deliberately decided against a country-style kitchen. With the dark kitchen, you are currently very much on trend . Did you have the desire for a dark kitchen from the outset? Mr. Dahmann: Yes, a dark kitchen was our favorite right from the start. However, we were a little unsure whether the dark kitchen combined with the low ceilings would make the room look too small. However, after the initial planning draft and consultation with the kitchen specialists, we discarded our doubts and are still very happy with the decision. Apart from the color and style wishes, were there any other ideas that you wanted to have realized in the kitchen? Mr. Dahmann: Lots of storage space and still enough work surface, not just for cooking, but also as a workstation in the home office. The retractable screen is the perfect solution. We can work with it as required, watch TV or use the surface for cooking when retracted.

The kitchen from an expert’s perspective: Ulrike Eiben from Wieser Küchen

Hello Ms. Eiben, I would also like to praise you for the successful kitchen planning. What do you like best about the Dahmanns ‘ kitchen from an expert’s point of view? Mrs. Eiben: An old farmhouse like this is not an everyday occurrence for us either. The lovingly renovated house with its special details is a real highlight where we were able to get involved with friends. From the kitchen planning itself to the implementation of special features such as the retractable TV, a drywall ceiling with lighting design or the coordination of the individual craftsmen, we were able to contribute in a variety of ways. Unlike new builds, for example, old houses present a number of challenges due to the spatial conditions and building fabric, which also make such planning different and an exciting change for us. What were these challenges and how were you able to solve them? Mrs. Eiben: Crooked walls, beams and floors as well as low ceilings define the charm of such a house, but require special solutions. For the Dahmann family, for example, we installed a tall cupboard with pocket doors that was specially adapted to the low ceiling height in order to make effective use of every centimeter. The nature of the walls also made it difficult to lay pipes. Using drywall elements on the ceiling, we were able to elegantly integrate the exhaust air duct of the extractor fan and the lighting into the kitchen at the end. The conclusion of the happy customersWhatare your personal highlights in the new kitchen? Mr. Dahmann: The kitchen fits perfectly into the old house and has everything we need, from storage space and work surfaces to a modern look. The biggest highlights for me are the hidden screen and the pocket doors. Working, living and cooking have been perfectly combined here. We also really like the lighting and it’s a special detail that adds even more comfort. The lighting concept was also implemented by the kitchen specialists and has taken the room to a whole new level. We are very happy with the new kitchen and would use the kitchen specialists again at any time.
