Dieter Meier, who has become known as a musician and artist, has been growing wines of excellent quality in Agrelo Alto, one of Argentina's best wine regions, since the late 1990s. The main focus here is on the organic production process - the name of the "Puro" product line from Weingut Dieter Meier already refers to the thoroughly organic cultivation method.

Dieter Meier is considered a convinced organic farmer and lives out his passion for organic farming to the fullest. Today, Meier owns a winery in Ibiza as well as other farms and a vineyard in Argentina – all organically grown. “The right location for the right product plays a much more important role than in conventional cultivation.

This is a rape of nature, with unforeseeable consequences,” says the autodidact. Agrelo Alto near Mendoza is now one of the world’s top wine-growing regions in Argentina. His philosophy is that the distinctive terroir of the region with its mineral structures and fruit-intensive aromas can be tasted in every glass.

Argentina produces excellent wines from the Malbec grape variety, which is commonly known. But Cabernet Sauvignon also thrives magnificently in the Andean country. Dieter Meier has now skilfully brought together the two grape varieties in his Puro wine. As usual with his wines, the grapes for Malbec Cabernet come exclusively from organic farming.

The Malbec provides an intensely fragrant fruit imprint and the Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and spice. A really successful pairing! The organic Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown in Agrelo Alto – an area known in Argentina as the mecca of grape production. Here, the grapes thrive at the foot of the Andes at an altitude of 1,100 meters. This location, with its large differences between day and night temperatures, provides a lot of freshness in the wine.

You don’t have to worry about hours of sunshine in Argentina anyway and drip irrigation does not give the vines too much or too little water. Dieter Meier’s Puro wines are highly popular for a reason. The organically produced Malbec Cabernet now brings together two grape varieties in an impressively successful style.

How the wine tastes: strong in character and strong ruby red with shimmering violet reflections. On the nose, typical Malbec aromas reminiscent of blueberries, blackberries and plums. But classic Cabernet Sauvignon notes are also present: especially blackcurrants, green peppers and cloves can be identified. Very structured in the mouth, with firm tannins and a good acidity.

“This blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Mendoza region is as exciting as my life.” Dieter Meier
