Customers can choose from a wide range of options when it comes to customizing their Porsche. Visually and technically. For exterior and interior. Starting with the color of the decorative stitching, through the choice of materials to an individual paint job. The specially trained sales consultants will work with you to develop your individual vehicle. Masters of their craft pass on these ideas and the personality of the buyer to the vehicle – and thus make a Porsche “your” Porsche.

How it all started

In the tradition of Ferry Porsche, who in 1948 realised his vision of “building a sports car as I liked it”, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur still works today. At that time, the result was the 356 Roadster No. 1, which received its registration on June 8, 1948. Today, it’s the customers’ vehicles. As early as the early 1950s, the repair department at the main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen was working on special orders. The first documented customer request came in 1962 from the industrialist Alfred Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach.

He ordered a Porsche 356 B Coupé with a rear windshield wiper, which was not provided for in the series at the time. Until the 1970s, customers’ special requests were mainly in the sporting sector. They ordered modifications to the engine and chassis to make their Porsche even sportier. In 1971, Porsche officially launched the sale of sports spare parts. In this way, Porsche professionally supported sports drivers with technical questions. In this customer racing department, the 911 Carrera RSR was the first small series to be created, which was also technically supported during the racing season.

The Porsche Special Requests Department

Since 1978, the then newly founded Sonderwunsch department has been developing exclusive production vehicles, mostly in the field of engine and chassis tuning. With the tuning boom of the 1980s, individualization was added. In addition to the classic increase in performance and lowering, visual changes in the interior and exterior were now also in demand. Leather, wood and hi-fi components became more and more popular. Not forgetting wide side skirts and spoilers for the front and rear. Demand increased. Worldwide.
